Dear Neighbor,

My Dedication to Serving Our Community

As a dedicated community service advocate deeply rooted in District 6, I embody the spirit of our neighborhood. Born in O’Connor Hospital and raised in D6, my journey has taken me through Gardner, Willow Glen, North Willow Glen, College Park, and The Alameda. Today, I am raising my three children in the same neighborhood where I grew up. Being an active local neighborhood leader, my life's purpose has been dedicated to service and being a good neighbor. Serving as the District 6 Elected Neighborhood Commissioner since 2016, a Measure T Oversight Committee Member appointed by our Mayor Matt Mahan, and a Community Advocate has provided me with a profound understanding of our community's needs, fueling an unwavering passion to continue serving my neighbors and the city I love.

My Priorities for San Jose

My commitment to my neighbors of District 6 is to continue focusing on inclusiveness, public safety, and blight reduction, addressing the housing crisis, and championing policies that cater to the diverse needs of our community. Leveraging my experiences as a community advocate, mother, and elected representative, I bring a comprehensive perspective to tackle our district's challenges and opportunities.

Safety

In public safety, my strategy involves a proactive investment not only in hiring more police officers and firefighters but also in all the first responder staff that support them. Simultaneously, providing necessary resources and training is crucial to ensuring the safety of our community. Additionally, maintaining preventive measures such as after-school programs for youth, extended library hours, and seasonal children and youth programming contributes to curbing crime and violence.

Jobs

Recognizing the importance of job training, I aim to establish programs for both adults and youth, creating pathways to city employment directly from high school, college, or university. This initiative includes trade programs and skill development opportunities, fostering a workforce that is not only skilled but also invested in the city's growth.

Housing

Addressing the housing crisis is paramount in my agenda, with a proposal to invest in emergency housing for the houseless and facilitate affordable housing initiatives with supportive services. A holistic approach, complemented by wrap-around services, will empower our neighbors to secure and maintain stable housing. Importantly, these initiatives must be implemented regionally, ensuring collaboration and shared responsibility without compromising other budget priorities.

Blight Reduction

In pursuing blight reduction and community beautification, I will work towards targeted efforts and invest in the maintenance of public spaces. Supporting initiatives that enhance the overall appearance of our neighborhoods, including beautification art projects and local artist participation, will contribute to a more attractive and welcoming environment. This not only addresses blight but also instills a sense of pride in our community, allowing visitors and community members to enjoy the best of our district, from the lovely Rose Garden to open spaces, trails, and strolling down the Avenues.

I firmly believe that prioritizing these budgetary allocations can transform San Jose into a safer, more affordable, and sustainable city for everyone. It's crucial to recognize that the success of our community is intertwined with comprehensive and collaborative strategies addressing the multifaceted challenges we face.

In conclusion, my candidacy is founded on a lifetime of commitment to community service and advocacy. As your representative on the San Jose City Council District 6, I bring experience and a vision for a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving community. Together, we can build a future where every resident feels safe, supported, and empowered to contribute to our beloved city's continued growth and prosperity.
